beaches. Many film directors rate Hawaii as their number
one destination for their film shootings due to the beauty
and the vast variety of beaches in just one place.
The
most popular beach is the KAHALUU BEACH PARK located
at the THE KONA COAST .It is a small beach but provides
all the necessities required like pavilions ,restrooms,
and barbecue pits .Throughout the year, almost thousands
of visitors visit this place a week. The coconut tree
lined across the salt& pepper sand shore add more
beauty to it. This place is also very suitable for
beginning snorkeling for children in summers, because
the water
is not much deep and you can stand in water. It gets
too much crowded and people come here early so that
they can choose the best spot at the beach.
There
is a beach
located about a few miles on Queen Kaahumanu Highway
,north of the airport .There are sheltered bays where
you can swim, snorkel and dive offshore.
Aside from drinking water you can find other facilities
like
barbecue pits, and restrooms. It is an excellent
picnic spot for families but is closed at 8pm.As you
move
forward to Alii Drive, you will find a small white
sand beach
called Disappearing Beach. This place is suitable
for swimming ,snorkeling, surfing, and boogie-boarding.
The
Kohala coast is popular for is spectacular beach known
as A-bay. In front of the coast there is Waikoloa
Beach
Marriott Resort .The visitors can enjoy the stay
at the beach which is surrounded by palm trees and
fish
ponds
on the other side of it.Swimming, snorkeling, diving,
kayaking and windsurfing are the common activities
here .The major curiosity of the visitors is to
see
the green
turtles which can be seen by divers at the far
end of the bay. As you move away ,from the Queen Kaahumanu
Highway,
there you will see half a mile long Hapuna Beach.
In
summers, a lot of visitors come here but in winter
the crowd is very small due
to the
thundering waves and lack of lifeguards. Other
gold sand beaches
are KAUNAOA BEACH and LELEIWI BEACH PARK .These
are ideal
for families with children for swimming and snorkeling
and watching green turtles. Facilities include
restrooms, showers, lifeguards ,and picnic spots
.
The
most famous of all the beaches in Hawaii is located
in the
south at the base of Puu o Mahana .You have
to cross the
lava for the first 10 minutes after you have
reached the South
Point .It is very difficult to reach here ,other
problems are that there is no delivery of drinking
water and
shades to avoid the sun. Despite all these
problems this place
attracts thousands of tourists worldwide because
of its green sand.
