It is believed that “The Islands of Aloha” have been as a result of volcanic eruptions caused by goddess Pele. One of the biggest creations as a result of volcanic eruptions has been the Island of Hawaii which still continues to grow in size due to the volcano Kilauea. Hawaii an island where Aloha is spoken most commonly is greater in size than the nearby islands and is a pretty warm place at times. It is mainly famous for its beaches and tropical forests wherein you will find magnificent waterfalls and landscapes that are really pleasing to the eye. The numerous beaches allow you to have real fun in the ocean water with various water sport activities. Spending time in the ocean with a snow covered mountain in the background will really give a soothing effect to your eyes and really make you feel that you are on a holiday.
Hawaii seems to be a small place but actually its not and it takes a few days to explore the place properly because every region has its own specialty and it usually takes a day’s time to explore a particular region properly. Here is what the island has to offer you-
Hilo, the capital city of Hawaii experiences rainfall almost every evening and that is why it has many plantations. Almost half of the city has plantations of crops and is therefore very clean and green. The Farmer’s Market is a well known place in the city which experiences heavy rush on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Apart from this market the Suisan Fish Auction that takes place every morning is also worth watching.
To the north of Hilo lies the Hamakua Coast which is full of cliffs with pointed peaks and deep valleys. Waterfalls are seen flowing from the mountains giving it a mesmerizing touch. Hiking is quite a common activity in this part of the country and with valleys like Waipi’o which are even accessible by road one can enjoy visiting this place.
Waipi’o leads to Waimea which is a cool and calm place and consists of the largest ship cattle ranch of the country known as the Parker Ranch. This town has a completely rural look to it because of the cattle.
One of the highest places in Hawaii at a height of 13,796 feet height is the Mauna Kea which not far away from Waimea. Being at such a height this place is pretty cold for most of the year and therefore one needs to carry warm clothes while visiting the place. The place can be reached by using the Saddle Road and remains covered with snow throughout the year.

Near Waimea also lies the North Kohala Coast which is famous for its white sand beaches. The beaches experience continuous sunshine and are therefore perfect for swimming and other recreational activities like snorkeling etc. on the beach. The place also has a few golf courses to go along with the beaches which make the place an attractive tourist spot.
While you descend the hill and move along the coastline you will find the lovely town of Kailua-Kona which is renowned worldwide for the Ironman Triathlon. Some of the best athletes of the world take part in this event which is filled with action and thrill. The market place of this area has numerous shops, restaurants and hotels for people to stay and enjoy.

In the southern side of this Kailua-Kona town lies the famous coffee plantations. Coffee beans of the highest quality are produced here and most of the owners have incorporated visitor centers wherein tourists can taste the coffee produced. Another spot that is worth watching is the Kona Historical society in Kealakekua wherein you will get to know the culture and history of the place. The Kealakekua Bay is also pretty famous because it was at this bay that Captain Cook died in 1779. This Bay is now one of the best places to carry out snorkeling activities. Also there is Pu’uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park which is quite fierce and scary.

If you move further southward you will reach the southern most tip of the country which is known as Ka Lae. The discovery of Hawaii was made by Polynesians about 1500 years ago and this was the place where they landed. The vastness of Pacific Ocean can be known from this place and with water all around one can imagine how the Polynesians would have felt once they saw some piece of land which was later named as Hawaii.

The Kilauea Volcano is surrounded by the Puna district and is bordered by Kau. Some of the towns of the Puna district have been destroyed by the volcanic eruptions but life still continues. With greenery all around the region in the form of trees and flowers which also forms the major occupation of people in this part of the country. The region also has 2 beach parks namely Ahalanui Beach Park and Isaac Hale Beach Park.
