Downtown Honolulu

Downtown Honolulu is primarily a business area, however it does have several high rise condos open to residents as well. The downtown is split up into four different sub districts, which are; the Central Business District, the Capitol District, Waterfront and Chinatown. The Central Business and Capitol Districts are mostly business areas, with large office buildings and the offices of Oahu's federal and state government residing in the 12 block area, whereas the Waterfront and Chinatown are where you will find the residential condos. Downtown Honolulu has several historical buildings that have all played some part in developing Hawaii's statehood, as well as economic stability. Home to the famous clock tower and with great view of the harborage, Aloha Tower Marketplace has a number of different nightlife venues, boutique stores and eateries available to residents. The downtown area also has plenty of restaurants that are widely popular, ranging in price and options broadly, and cater to a good number of people every day during lunch. Chinatown is also popular, and gives locals the chance to buy all of their Asian cooking needs each day, as well as high quality fish, plenty of flower shops with fresh flowers, including leis, as well as a number of stores which sell goods imported from the East. The area is easily accessed on foot, or by using the local busses. Near the outskirts of downtown you will also be able to find all of your favorite chain stores, such as Safeway, Longs Drugstore and Kmart.
