kiki1- There are many other ways to send your belongings.  I posted in another thread that you can use PODS, which is essentially a large storage/shipping container they bring to your home.  After you finish packing it, you call them and they come and pick it up and send it to where you wish.  They will also store the POD if you want to do that.  That has been the most reasonable alternative for me.

Thanks for the advice MamaLou! I have written that on my "important notes" so that I won't forget which company to call when I finally move to Hawaii.

How about jobs? What are the jobs that are easy to find? I finished a computer degree and I would like to work in a computer-related work if possible.

Did you know that Hawaii is an archipelago and has 8 main islands? The main islands are : Hawai'i, Maui, Kaho'olawe, Lana'i, O'ahu, Kaua'i and Ni'ihau. It is the only state of the United States that is not geographically located in North America and has its own royal palace. Hawaii has two official languages: English and Hawaiian.

That's one of the main things I love about Hawaii, that it is made up of all these islands.  I've been to five of them and have a good idea of what makes each one special.  I love that if I want a change of pace for a weekend, it's a short flight to get there.

There are 258 public schools in Hawaii. However, students from these public schools scored low in the "Nation's Report Card" with just 21 percent of the eighth graders considered proficient in math and 20 percent proficient in reading. So it's better to get your kids into private schools. There are however, some public schools that do better than the rest.

I'm wondering if very many people homeschool in Hawaii since the public schools are so expensive and the public schools don't seem to do a very good job.
