Do your shopping at Walmart dude and you will save tons of money!  Yes furniture and everything else is a bit expensive but unless you have brand new furniture in your house right now that you MUST bring with you be prepared to pay several hundred dollars to move all that stuff here.   I suggest you sell everything  and when you move here and purchase new furniture when you find things on clearance or on sale.

I agree with PapaSmurf.  The best thing to do in a situation like this that you are moving to an Island, sell all your furniture and other items that can be replaceable once you relocate.  Do you really want to spend hundreds (if not thousands of dollars) to safely move everything inside your current home to the Island?   Look around your place and you will see that it will not be an easy or cheap task.  You will definetely have enough to pack up for your move with your clothes, everyday necessities, memorable items, photo albums, etc  that you probably have stored in the attic or basement for years... moving furniture to Hawaii will just be too expensive!   You will be better off purchasing new items when you get here.

Less luggage more comfort goes the saying, but during relocation you should not mind much about the luggage.  After all it is concerned with total shift!
