I'm interested in finding out what is the nicest but most affordable section of Honolulu that is suitable for children.  I can think of different areas that may be suitable but I was hoping to get some first-hand information from people in the know.  My children are in grade school and I'd like to make the move as easy as possible for them.

I'm also on the search for a suitable place there in Honolulu. I'm still here on the mainland and I want to learn more about the location before I transfer there. I know that houses there are not cheap therefore I wish to know the average rental or price so that I can prepare for it.

I am also relocating so I do not have first hand knowledge however you might check the online stats for criminal reports and stuff for the areas you are considering.

Look to spend around $1,000 for a 700 square foot apartment in the downtown area. This is comparable to any major city on the mainland. Housing prices are a bit more competitive these days.

The residential areas for families in and around Honolulu are Kaimuki and Palolo.  In fact it is at Kaimuki people move in large numbers as a matter of fact of relocation and stay there with a lot of facilities provided to them by the commercial outlets too.
