Lahaina vs Kaanapali

Maui is one of my favorite Islands although I've only been to pretty much one side and stayed in either Lahaina or Kaanapali which is just a little further down though both are touristy, Kaanapali is more resort where Lahaina is more seaside town, but I love them both.

I think if I had to choose that I would go to Lahaina.  I don't care for resort towns where there are so many tourists all of the time.  I like the idea of a seaside town better.  It gives the idea of a peaceful place where you can enjoy nature at its fullest.
