I would not come to hawaii just to bartend. Our tourism is going down with flights rising and the economy in a recession. My uncle who was a bartender for over 20 years got laid off in waikiki. it's hard to find a job as a bartender that pays well. my friend just completed bartending school and even she can't find a job. Just my 2 cents. If you don't have a car the cheapest way to get around would be to buy a bus pass. I hope you know the cost of living in Hawaii is expensive also. Good luck!

Yea, all the service area's are having a hard time, my daughter is a hostess and one of the restaurants in Waikiki and although she's not officially laid off she's on call but really her hours are non existent even with a lot of the other workers back in collage.
