After the dredging process is over, the pond is filled with sand. Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate decides to develop residences on the 521-acre Kuapa Pond. Nearby the Hawaii Kai area, there are other residential neighborhoods such as Portlock, Kalama Valley, and Queen’s Gate. On the west of Hawaii Kai, there is the Kuli’ou’ou neighborhood.
