A prestigious community with many upscale beach front homes, Kahala has many of the most expensive properties in all of America, and is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Oahu. It is so prestigious in fact that it has been visited by royalty many times over the years, as well as celebrities. The neighborhood is full of mansions, stretching green lawns and boasts easy access to relaxing beaches that sit on the Kahala Coast. Their is also the Waialae Country Club with its 18 hole golf course, which famously hosts the Sony Open in Hawaii. Tourists are also able to enjoy one of the greatest holiday destinations around, including the high class Kahala Hotel and Resort, which is well known for its fabulous spa and restaurant. There are also a number of places to eat and visit boutiques at the local Kahala Mall, which is full of shops of every kind and includes the popular Macy's department store, a Barnes & Noble bookshop and its own cinema. The shopping mall has just added a Wholefoods Market, along with a Times Supermarket, so getting your everyday grocery needs here will not be a problem. The area is a part of the Kalani school district, which is made up of five elementary schools, Kaimuki Middle School and Kalani High School. Kahala is also in the same district as the popular Waialae Public Charter School, giving parents plenty of options.
