Kailua Town residents live in a community where almost every necessity in life can be found within the neighborhood, meaning that being a fair way out from Honolulu does not present a problem. The area has an ample number of places to eat, parks, libraries and schools, as well as shopping centers, all within close proximity to each other in the business district of Kailua Town, which is nearby the residential area. Residents here also get to experience the Kailua Beach easily, as they live so close by - and as many of you know it is one of the most popular beaches in all of Hawaii. Kailua Beach and the surrounding green open spaces are perfect for taking a swim, sunbathing on the shore, enjoying a picnic, and especially windsurfing, for which the beach is considered a prime location. The middle of Kailua Town has a wide array of restaurants suiting everyone's tastes, with plenty of variety in both cuisine and price; most of these restaurants operate from breakfast time until dinner, so you will never feel rushed to complete your meal. There is also an abundance of boutiques and large department stores in the area, along with grocery stores, drugstores and any kind of service the locals might need, from computer repair to gardeners - of course there are also doctors and dentists nearby. There is a very strong sense of community in the neighborhood, and many people join clubs with their neighbors, such as senior activities, jogging, tennis, biking and several options for organized youth sport. Part of the Kailua-Kalaheo school district, you can choose from eight different elementary schools before your child attends Kailua Intermediate and finally either Kailua or Kalaheo High School. If you prefer private schooling there are also several options available to you, including the famous Le Jardin Academy.
