Kailua Town is a district, which is very much self contained, and has most things that are required for everyday life based there, so the residents do not often have to travel to Honolulu. The town has a number of parks, schools and libraries along with shops and restaurants all located in the business center in the town, and there are plenty of homes located in and around this area. Kailua Beach is also only a few minutes away, and is one of the great beaches on the island, boasting calm waters which are perfect for swimming and windsurfing, and the golden sands are great for having a picnic or sunbathing. There are restaurants with a wide range of cuisines centered in and around Kailua Town, and there is somewhere that is perfect for every meal. 

 

There are all of the necessary services for everyday life available in Kailua Town, and has everything from small boutiques and drugstores, to supermarkets and department stores. The town has a cohesive sense of community, and there are a number of local clubs for many of the sports popular on the island, including hiking, cycling, running and tennis, along with youth sports clubs and activities for senior citizens. There are plenty of schools in the area, where eight elementary schools feed in to Kailua Intermediate school, where the pupils will eventually move on to Kalaheo and Kailua High Schools. There are private schools which also base themselves in Kailua Town, including the Le Jardin Academy as one of these private schools.
