A subdivision of Pearl City, Newtown used to be a farming place. Locals can find watercress, rice, taro, pineapple and sugarcane as some of the produce growing in the area. A short distance away, local residents can find the Pearlridge Shopping Center. The shopping center houses big names like Macy’s Inspiration Furniture, Sears, Borders Books and Music and Toys R Us. Moreover, you can find 16 theaters, 12 restaurants, 2 food courts, 2 arcades, a miniature golf and swimming area inside the shopping center.
Newtown belongs to the Pearl City complex. The district has eight elementary schools connecting to Highlands Intermediate, and Pearl City High School. Noted for its exceptional music program, Pearl City High School’ s concert and marching band have been invited to play at various venues.
