Wahiawa is a historic community where its resid ents closely follow the genetic make of the plantation contract laborers brought to the islands over 100 years before. In 1998, the Wahiawa community celebrated its centennial and prided themselves on their diverse melting pot of people in the area.

Wahiawa community consists of mostly single-family homes. In recent years, military personnel, who are settling in the neighborhood, are growing as well. This is mainly because the Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Army Airfield is near the area.
Residents of Wahiawa enjoy a large variety of restaurants that mirror the diverse culture found in the community. Every style of restaurants can be found in the area. Also, there are a lot of historical establishments that have been around for decades and that have been attracting to urists all over. Found also in this residence is the Wahiawa State Freshwater State Park, a tranquil open space surrounded by the Hawaii Country Club Golf Course.

Part of the Leilehua Complex school district, there are seven elementary schools that are part of it: Wahiawa and Wheeler Middle schoolsa and Leilehua High School.
