Waiau Ahupuaa Real Estate
Stretching from the mountains down to Pearl Harbor and the surrounding ocean area are all part of the Waiau Ahupuaa section. Part of Waiau cuts through the Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area and most the residential units are in the area between Waimalu and Pearl City. Local residents of Waiau enjoy hanging out at the grounds of the 384-acre park area. This is a great place for outdoor loves as the place has four available campsites. The State Parks office, for the reasonable price of $5, is selling permits to campsites. Included in the fee is the use of the picnic areas, restrooms, covered pavilions with barbeque grills. Trekkers will also be happy to know that the park grounds are also the location of the popular Aiea Loop trail. While following the 4.8 mile trail, you will be able to glimpse stunning views of Pearl Harbor, Waianae Mountain Ride, and Diamond head.
For the local residents’ commercial needs, they can easily reach the strip malls located along the stretch of Kamehameha Highway. The strip malls in this area have small local restaurants and fast-food chains. For shoppers, Pearlridge Shopping Center is the closest shopping place from Waiau. The shopping center has Macy’s, Sears and a number of shops joined by the state’s only monorail system.
Waiau is part of the Pearl City complex district, which includes eight elementary schools. These schools are Highlands Intermediate, then Pearl City High School. Pearl City HS is known for its exceptional music program. Their concert and marching bands have been invited to various plays at national and international venues.
