Waikiki is easily one of the most iconic tourist destinations in Oahu, as well as boasting a diverse and radiant residential community. This neighborhood of condos shares the two mile stretch of land it is situated on with those who visit Waikiki from all over the globe. Life for residents here has evolved since 1960 from a small surfing community with the odd artist in the mix to being an urban neighborhood with high rise buildings; this is thanks for a $100 million stratagem by private investors back in the 1970s. There are plenty of family friendly activities in the area, including the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium and the famous Waikiki shoreline which is a pleasure to visit with its white sands and great surfing opportunities for beginners and pros alike. 

 

While much of the area is made up of condos and hotels, there are plenty of open spaces around to take some time out to relax and appreciate nature. Kapiolani Park is used as an arena for the practice of various sports, and local teams are encouraged to make use of it all year long. The park also has its own tennis courts and an archery range which are open to the public. The Kapiolani Bandstand and the Waikiki Shell both provide great venues to put on shows for aspiring artists, as well as famous entertainers who wish to perform in Hawaii. The school district here has plenty of options for elementary schools, including Waikiki Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Elementary and Ala Wai Elementary, all of which will prepare your child for high school, which will be attended at either the Kalani Highschool or Kaimuki High School district.
